I'm calculating the usable area of an office building that was built in the 1890's that has 12" thick internal brick bearing walls bisecting it in two locations. Would these internal bearing walls be incorporated into the usable area for the floor?
Answer:
Yes, any columns etc 'necessary for the structure and support' are ignored, and included in the Usable area.
